Founded in 2005 by parents of special children, The DS Special Children Welfare Association (DSSCWA) is an 18-year old non-governmental organisation that has grown from strength to strength over the years, adding many Down’s Syndrome and MR children and adults into its fold. DSSCWA prides itself for being a centre where special children and adults learn various vocations, create finished products, earn their income and stand on their own two feet.
The aim of this organisation is to help them lead a life of dignity, self-respect and comfort. DSSCWA also strives to be a space where the special children and adults enjoy each other’s company and involve themselves in activities that interest them. DSSCWA is supported by parent volunteers as well as other volunteers who believe in our mission.
The team works in our workshop from Monday to Friday. DSSCWA boasts of a growing base of regular buyers for its products. We also feature our products at exhibitions by invitation. All the earnings out of the sales are paid as monthly salaries to the special adults.
